ROANOKE, VA - Butler Parachute Systems, Inc. (BPS), the world leader in the design and development of aircrew emergency parachute systems, has announced the introduction of a new lower cost product line to be called the "Standard Series" emergency parachutes.  The new products will differ from the company’s "Custom Series" in that a limited number of pack and harness configurations will be available.  Initially, Butler will offer four backpack configurations and two seatpack configurations with a chairpack to follow later. The new products will be available for delivery beginning in January 2000.  Some of the more popular items will be "on-the-shelf" for immediate delivery.

The Standard Seriesä will be offered as complete assemblies with the company’s new "Butler LoPo" canopies. Retail pricing for the backpack and seatpack will begin at $1200, more than 35% less than the current price for a custom series parachute with an HX Series canopy. The new Standard Series product line puts Butler’s starting price point at, or below, that of the competition with a technically superior product.   In addition to this extremely aggressive retail pricing, the company will also offer a dealer discount program (which it has been unable to do with the Custom Seriesä parachutes due to the complexity of the product).

The Standard Series   will feature a limited option list, a simpler harness configuration and somewhat limited color selection. The company President, Manley Butler said, "The Standard Series harness and container systems actually takes some of their detail design features from our original product line, but they are structurally and functionally equivalent to our current harness and container product line. However, by limiting the number of configurations and the selection of options, in combination with our new Butler LoPoä canopies, we have been able to significantly lower the starting price point of our product line. We will, of course, continue to offer all of our existing product line, which currently numbers over 250 different harness and container configurations and (now) eight canopies. As always, the quality of design, materials and workmanship of all of our products will continue to be the finest in the world, and all of our products are covered by the strongest warranty in the industry."
